The nation watched in shame when alleged Sainiks vandalised media offices in Mumbai and Pune over criticism of their leader. This is not the first time that mobs incited by politicians have used violence to prove their point. The attackers also seemed unapologetic and have gone to the extent of justifying the incident, labeling it as a ‘spontaneous’ reaction. The ruling administration seems indifferent and confused on the kind of action that needs to be taken against such violence. In a democracy are there not better ways of expressing discontentment? How should the authorities deal with such violence? You tell us
